Arduino After Market Speedo support

Important notes - Please read before

  • There are thousands of speedo models and copies of various quality available, requiring different voltages so they may or may not work correctly, please take it into consideration before buying parts.

  • Since speedos are mostly found in old clusters their characteristics will vary a lot. I can't and I won't give any advices on how you have to wire your speedo, but google should help you ;)

Wiring

Depending on your tachometer, it may require either a 5V or 12V signal. If it supports only 12v, you may need to use 5v to 12v wiring (identical to the Tach wiring ) If your speedo works on 5V, you can plug it directly to a free arduino pin.

Arduino configuration

Calibration

Note : the arduino can't emulate frequencies under 31Hz, you may have to fit the minimum speed according to the minimum frequency possible (~15-20kmh)
