How to implement an Activity Pane that monitors stdout or stderror?

Hey, I am wondering if there is a way to implement a pane that automatically becomes visible at the top-left corner (sorta like a notification in macOS) when there is an activity from stdout or stderror, and automatically becomes invisible if no new activity is received in, like says 1 min?
