Looking for more information about default plugins

Hello! I'm hoping to get a few answers here about the state of the current default plugins. If someone has a bit of time to answer them, that would be fantastic. I've read the plugin docs and looked for information in the default-plugins folder, but I can't seem to find any decent source of information. So here are some questions I have:

1. How do I disable a default plugin?
2. How do I use or "activate" the strider plugin?
3. What does each default plugin do? Is this documented somewhere?
4. The compact layout moves the tab-bar from the top (default) to the bottom, how do I keep it at the top?
