On October 20th, 2021, Microsoft blogged about VSCoode Web.

It seems that most Zowe extensions are still not enabled.

👀 The enhancement request is to enable Zowe Explorer (and others) to be used on VSCode Web. 👀

Imagine the following interaction: (#1782)

The URL will:

  • Redirect you to a repository with Zowe Explorer already installed
  • Your connection details specified in the zowe.config.json file
  • The JOB01234 already opened in the Job Tree
  • The DD=JESMSGLG already open in the editor

Other extensions:

Looks like we can now download Zowe Explorer within VSCode web. The other extensions appear to be disabled still. However, the core functionality seems to be broken. It looks similar to what was going on in #1854 , but now it seems that it is functional in Codespaces and not in VSCode Web 🤔

Follow-up:
We should not claim we support VSCode Web at least not through GitHub until we can fix the core functionality.

@zFernand0 I agree that shouldn't support this for now. @anaxceron we can document this if documenting environments we don't support, if we only documenting what we do support we can just close this for now as not planned.

since we do not document unsupported environments, I believe we can close this issue as not planned
we can reconsider if someone from the community reports it and is willing to work with us on making this happen.

@zFernand0 zFernand0 closed this as not planned Won't fix, can't repro, duplicate, stale Apr 24, 2023
