On 4chan the background for transparent image thumbnails is based on the board background: light blue on SFW boards, light yellow on NSFW boards. If you've enabled image opacity in the app the background colour applied for transparent images is light blue, so when you open a transparent image on an NSFW board you get a thumbnail with a light yellow background expanded into a full resolution image with a light blue background as seen below:
