1. Set up a site with the Twenty Sixteen theme on an Explorer (simple) plan.
2. Create a post
3. Add a Classic Block
4. Paste in a couple of paragraphs of generic text
5. Grab a YouTube URL (any will do)
6. Use CMD+V to paste in the URL
7. Notice how the entire contents of the block is removed and replaced with only the video

In the second case, you paste in text into a Classic Block and it automatically converts to Paragraph blocks. Feels like these two are connected. The site is again on an Explorer plan and the theme is old, this time Twenty Fourteen,

@rickmgithub, I feel this one might be related to #91097 but I cannot quite reproduce what you describe. On my end, things seem to work as expected.

During my testing, I noticed a difference between pasting with the mouse right-click and pasting using the keyboard shortcut (around the 0:11 mark on the recording below). Screen capture is from Firefox 126.0.

Pasting with the mouse seems to bring the correct behaviour and pastes text within the Classic Block, following existing text. However, pasting using keyboard shortcuts (CMD-V) seems to override the Classic Block entirely.

If this is coming from WordPress/gutenberg#61377 it should be fixed as soon as 18.5 is released (as per WordPress/gutenberg#61389)

This bug can also be produced if you use a TextExpander shortcut in a Classic Block

One workaround for this is to right click and use the Mac context menu item "Paste and match style"
