#1276 was brought up partly with TWTM in mind, but TWTM puzzles actually build and suspend cubes instead of dropping them (One puzzle has you launch yourself to a cube suspended from the ceiling). Thus, this should be a separate item rather than a TWTM variant of the cube dropper.

Ed: This would be an item for any style, but would be especially appropriate in BTS styles as well.

How about just have Start Reversed or something to make cubes be suspended in front of droppers?

this would be very hard because it would involve a ton of complex animations and programming, just keep the cube builder in TWTM style

Wouldn't this just get pulled from TWTM if implemented? (I know nothing about how these things work)

It's not difficult.

But what about the model? Vanilla, P1 and Old Aperture cubes don't have building animations. And it wouldn't make much sense for Old Aperture.

Old Aperture cubes are just pieces of wood and rubber bound together. Maybe a chute that makes a squeezing sound (ZZRT is what pops in my mind), opens, and pushes a cube. The important mechanic is that the cube hangs from/above the dropper instead of falling.

And given that the TWTM cube is a reskin of the standard cube, I assume it'd be a matter of changing the textures.

I know how Old Aperture cubes are made, what I'm saying is that assembling cubes inside test chambers doesn't make much sense in Old Aperture. Really, building cubes inside test chambers doesn't make sense in any style, except for TWTM Style and BTS (which isn't even test chambers). In all other styles it should just be a Cube Suspender, a standard dropper embedded into the surface which suspends dispensed cubes until picked up by the player.

Indeed it wouldn't build cubes inside the map except in Clean.

And BTS, and TWTM.

Why in Clean?

Clean/TWTM style.

The precedent for BTS is that you move through a cube production line in PS:Mel. This animation would be a nice aesthetic touch.

Additionally, P1 should be a piston-mounted grabber holding a cube (like the Rexaura orbs).

Curious, is this still in progress?
