The Merritt Audit service (mrt-audit) manages the ongoing bit-level verification if digital content. The Audit service scans the Inventory database continually, searching for:
- new content that has never had fixity checks
- content least recently checked
The service verifies each replicated copy of each file, downloading each copy via the Cloud API and checking its size and checksum against the expected values stored in the database. Any failures are reported for investigation by Merritt administrators.
