This was a performance focused release.

All clients should be running much smoother with a few particularly important improvements:

  • PCVR clients now run up to 90Hz (depending on the HMD) and should pretty much never drop frames on any reasonable VR capable PC. Also the latency of your hands should be fixed now. (No more controllers+UI lagging behind real world)
  • Mobile clients should now run at a locked 60Hz, haven't seen any frame drops
  • Quest 2: I was able to re-enable dynamic flashlights with shadows as well as FireFlies! Also it should be pretty darn steady at 72Hz, maybe a dropped frame here or there.
  • Quest 1: Still working on getting this to be a steady 72 fps. We're not there yet, but it's much better than it was.

In VR, it's especially important to be running at 72Hz as a minimum, or it can make people sick, so that has been a big focus lately.
