The idea is that this editor will be useful for creating 2D game levels in a Bevy-native way.
If you need an editor for 3D projects, consider bevy_editor_pls
.
Designed with iyes_loopless
.
Your project must use iyes_loopless
app states to be compatible.
The editor needs an asset pack (fonts, toolbar icons, etc.). A default one is
provided in the assets
folder in this repo. You need to copy it into your
project, to use the editor.
Feel free to replace any of the assets if you want to "theme"/"skin" the editor to your preferences.
Assets are managed using bevy_asset_loader
, using its "dynamic assets" feature.
All the filenames / asset paths are specified via the iyes2d_editor.assets
file.
If you want to rename or reorganize some asset files, just edit that file.
If you also use bevy_asset_loader
in your project, you can add the editor's
AssetCollection
to your loading state, if you want to control when the assets
get loaded (such as loading them during the same loading screen as your game's
assets). This is optional. If you do nothing, the editor will detect that the
resource is missing, and take care of loading its assets by itself.
