I am not sure - but it seems that given where Images.jl and ImageMagick.jl are - this package can be archived. @johnnychen94 Perhaps you are the right person to ask?

If not, should we put in effort to update it and have it pass tests on a recent Julia version?

Most commonly used image formats are supported by ImageIO now, and for those less familiar, ImageMagick has good coverage. So yes, this package can be archived or be kept as it is with minimal support.

To deprecate this package, we should probably just:

  1. unregister from FileIO
  2. add a note in the README saying that this package is not maintained and will likely be broken in the future
