WTF: I did go through a lot of trouble to retain the app in the Play Store. I properly informed that the Play Store version of the app can't block everything anymore due to Google's policies with a fitting one-time notice, and that this can be solved by updating to the GitHub version, which isn't limited in any way. The next thing that is happening is that people are rating 1-star for this reason. So, ...

  • Removed warning about the recent changes
  • Explicitly reloading on active network changes
  • Improved package visibility filter for Play Store version
  • Update translations

Background: NetGuard was about to be removed from the Play Store for using the QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission. Five appeals with a good justification for this permission were rejected by Google. So, in the end, there was no other choice than to let the app die or find a workaround, which is in place now for the Play Store version (but not the GitHub version!). The result is that only apps that can be user started and some whitelisted system apps can be managed by the Play Store version. Practically seen, for 99% of the users of the app, this won't make any difference, but if you want to control absolutely all internet traffic, you should use the GitHub version of the app.

Note that about a month ago, Google was going to remove the app for another nonsensical reason as well.

The app is still available via the Play Store!
