Update the wording of the adjust chain lengths calibration step as proposed in #785
Congratulations on the pull request @BarbourSmith Now we need to decide as a community if we want to integrate these changes. You should vote by giving this comment a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Votes are counted in 168 hours. Ties will not be merged. I'm just a robot, but I love to see people contributing so I'm going vote thumbs up (but my vote won't count...)! |
Thanks BarbourSmith, |
Excellent contribution @guidobender ❤️ Keep them coming! |
Thanks for the praise.
I actually did note another thing during the calibration and opened another
topic.
I appreciate your hard work on this and am glad to do a little bit to help.
Cheers
Guido

Do I press next before I press move to center? Or is the intel just random trivia? |
I just did a number of calibrations attempts two days ago. In the previous step the left chain is connected to the right motor and pulled tight and the distance of the motors is measured.
|
The reason we added the "Move to center" button is that people with like 12' top beams were having trouble because they couldn't hook up the sled with the amount of chain which was extended. Then we thought about just always extending enough chain to move to the center, but people who have marked the links for the correct distance would be tripped up by that so now we have this awkward compromise with two possibilities 😢 I am on board for picking one option an running with it, or for making the compromise more clear. |
Hello, I'm currently having calibration problems. The new wording helps a little. Naively from YouTube videos I figured setup would be a breeze. I thought I would be making projects already but I'm two days into calibration and when I get asked the z axis to move during Calibration, after finally having success with chain length calibration. I asked z-axis to move towards the wood, to start z axis calibration and the entire sled both the x-axis and y-axis motors moved the sled to the bottom the machine frame. In the last two days I feel like I've tried everything automatic calibration, manual calibration, putting in values in the settings manually switching around wires, I'm pulling out my hair, I'm so lucky I live in Canada and guns are not readily accessible. Someone please help I'm writing and every forum possible. |
Hello! My guess is that you will get more support in the Forum then on a closed and merged software topic here. https://forums.maslowcnc.com/t/maslow-cnc-calibration-problems/9047 |
