Moving From JSS to CSS-Modules & Fundamental Styles #5723

Hi, I've noticed the switch to CSS modules from JSS: #5611 In found this statement quite remarkable:
And taking a look at the fundamental project, the common-css package brings all the stuff i've ever wanted from a web app dev standpoint: https://sap.github.io/fundamental-styles/?path=/docs/common-css-introduction--docs However, I've got my problems to understand how all of this fits together.
