Ethical Issues

While we do not foresee many Ethical issues involving our game as we do not collect data on any discrimination based factors, we have found some key considerations of ethical issues and how we plan to address them.

  1. Social Media sharing is planned to be enabled in our game. This opens up a platform that could lead to harassment and discrimination factors when sharing games to the public. To address this, we believe the terms and guidelines of use set up by the social medias (ie Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc) would be suitable for addressing these issues as they take place on those platforms.

  2. As with all video games, they require a substantial amount of technology to play. We plan to address this and make our game more accessible to all people with a laptop as it will be lightweight in how it is run and any windows based computer will be able to perform the actions of our game.

  3. The use of high scores in the game can be used to create slurs or words of harm as the user name. In order to combat this, we plan to use an open source database of slurs and non acceptable words to prevent the use of in usernames.
