Session outline

The session aims at presenting some recent experiences of epigraphy courses taught during the pandemic in the frame of the ICS and UniBo activities and the ENCODE project. Three main case studies will be analysed: a Master course in Greek Epigraphy; a digital Greek and Latin epigraphy workshop taught in a synchronous way; an EpiDoc workshop taught mainly asynchronously.

Exercise

Using Sublime Text Editor or Atom Editor, create EpiDoc files for a couple of inscriptions of your choice. Use the EpiDoc Guidelines and the EpiDoc Tutorials to learn how. Encode as much of the descriptive and historical metadata as possible, and mark up the ancient text using the Leiden-to-Epidoc equivalencies. Use a copy of the EpiDoc XML Template (right-click and "save link as…") to start each new text.
