Test failure on s390x #1124

When building the Fedora netcdf4-python package for 1.5.6 and 1.5.7 I'm getting the following test failure only on s390x:

netcdf4-python version: 1.5.7
HDF5 lib version:       1.10.7
netcdf lib version:     4.8.1
numpy version           1.21.1
cython version          0.29.24
FAIL: runTest (tst_compoundvar.VariablesTestCase)

FWIW - This is still present with 1.6.3 and netcdf 4.9.0.

Sill present with 1.6.5 and netcdf 4.9.2.
