In case you're wondering when I did this, the first 3 images show a date/time in the bottom right corner. If you can't read something in these images -- or any images anywhere on GitHub -- just click the image. That opens the image in a separate browser window. You can then use the browser's magnify function (Ctrl-+) to see anything you need to. I say again. If YouTube is rolling out something new, it hasn't hit here. But it's been 2 weeks since this was first raised so I'm pretty sure there's nothing being changed at YouTube that affects VDH. Clearly, I am having no problems of any kind downloading content from YouTube. I'm running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 23H2 build 22631.3958, Firefox 129.0 64-bit, licensed VDH 9.1.0.41 beta, CoApp 2.0.20. |

I can't access that video because it is restricted to members of the channel. However, there is a long-standing issue with YouTube content that requires a login. Perhaps your case is in this other category. Worse, it may be a victim of both the login problem and the other problem that seems to be spreading slowly. Maybe Paul can figure that out. |

For what it's worth, on Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 23H2 build 22631.3958, Firefox 128.0.3 64-bit, licensed VDH 9.1.0.41 beta, CoApp 2.0.19, VDH is able to download this video for me without a problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYOVTtfGhDk It was just released a couple of hours ago. If there is something being rolled out across the YouTube Network, it is taking much longer to reach me than other similar events in the past. |

Eu tenho a chave do Chrome e comprei do firefox só por causa do youtube, hoje não consegui usar, não está reconhecendo video nenhum, mas cedo estranhei a maneira q ele estava reconhecendo os videos depois não fez nenhum reconhecimento. e nem consigo resetar a configuração ate desinstalar e instalar de novo não funcionou. |

I continue to have no problems with YouTube. It seems like this issue is very much geographic. Maybe YouTube announced something. Has anybody read any sort of announcement from YouTube that they are curtailing service in certain countries? |

While connected through my VPN provider, I can't download any video from Youtube (video not detected). When switching off the VPN, I can download all videos. Might Youtube be doing something nasty in the background when they detect a VPN? |

This is the video I downloaded.
Aside from the fact that the subject does not interest me, there is no way I'm sitting here watching a 3-hour video. I just skimmed it to make sure it was all here, with audio. It was. The video goes to completely black at about 40 minutes in. I gather this is intentional. There are credits at the very end so I don't think over 2 hours of completely black video is evidence of a damaged video. As I suggested above, did you check this video with the URL I posted above in my comment dated August 24? |

I also had this issue, and then turned off my VPN provider (private internet access), which was connected to a US server, and then I was able to download videos again. |

I do not work for VDH. I'm just another user. When I visited that web page, it said that it is going -- note that, FUTURE tense -- going to be a livestream on September 29 at 2:00 PM. That's tomorrow afternoon, my time. Now, unless you have managed to procure a machine that allows you to travel forward in time or you live in an alternate universe, you should not be reporting that video. It doesn't exist yet. You can't honestly expect VDH to recognize anything on that page, let alone download it. |

I'm aware VDH has had problems with age restricted content for a long time, new is the amount of videos this happens with, the fact that one cannot even download these videos with a VPN and an American IP where there is no age restriction and the fact that literally all other downloaders can't download this either. I.e. up to a while ago vidiget.com used to download age restricted content without any kind of problems, but recently it says "could not detect any video at that url". |

You know me. I live in the US & I did not use a VPN to access that video. It's just this apparently uninvestigated problem with age-restricted material. There is a more or less related problem when you're logged into YouTube with a paid account of some description. There are 2 issues, both involving being logged into YouTube. Age-restricted material, which necessarily requires you to log in, is not recognized in VDH. But this is a problem that occurs even when your login is of the free variety, my login being one such. Then separately, there is the issue of being logged in with a paid account. This seems to make VDH go blind on all content, age-restricted & otherwise. I have never had a problem downloading YouTube content when I'm logged in with my free Google account, but I'm usually not logged in so that's not all that interesting. I did try to use OBS to record that . . . ummm . . . not sure what language that was. Hindi? OBS was able to record that one. That video was age-restricted for me as well. I don't know where you got the idea that being able to access that one without needing a VPN would somehow remove the age restriction. It's age-restricted globally, as far as I can tell. I believe that is true for anything that is age-restricted. I don't think there's geographic influences on age restriction. I think if something is age-restricted, it's age-restricted in all geographic regions. I suppose I could be wrong about that, seeing as I have not located myself in every geographic region to test that. But I would assume that age restriction is not an attribute with a geographic component. I don't think OBS would work on content protected by DRM. I think if you buy or rent something on YouTube, you won't be able to download it, & I suspect any screen recorder would also fail. But I have not tested that. |

You mean even with a native US-IP you cannot download the video I mentioned above? When I use a VPN to access YT with a US-IP I don't have to log in to watch this video, only VDH doesn't detect the video, so I thought that might be because of the VPN. |

Oh no. Content can be marked age-restricted & being in the US doesn't get around that. I had to log in to look at the video you asked about. Like I said, age restriction is not a geographic thing. If it's age-restricted, it's age restricted in the US same as it is everywhere else. You are indeed operating under a misconception. Separately, I have encountered geoblocked content on YouTube. "This item is not available in your country." Or words to that effect. It's not a free world, no matter how much we delude ourselves into believing it is. I can't comment on VPN access. I tried to use a couple of VPNs a few years ago & they didn't unblock the content I wanted. It looked to me like the web sites I wanted to get stuff from knew about the local points of presence of the VPN companies & blocked them the same as if I were just visiting the sites without a VPN. The people running those sites aren't stupid. They know VPNs exist. They know how to geoblock them, too. If your VPN somehow didn't make you log into YouTube, it must be logging in or doing something equivalent behind the scenes. For this particular video, VDH detects nothing both with a VPN for you & without a VPN for me. Why does VDH not detect age-restricted content on YouTube? Beats me. I'm just another user. It sure would be nice if we could get some movement on this issue from the developer. |

I do not work for VDH. I'm just another user. Your Saturday Night Live video downloaded just fine for me with Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 24H2 build 26100.2161, Firefox 132.0 64-bit, licensed VDH 9.1.0.41 beta, CoApp 2.0.20. You really ought to specify those environment details. I'm in Cincinnati Ohio (which I mention again just to reinforce that I am also in the US). It might be worth mentioning again that antivirus programs other than the built-in Windows Defender have been known to interfere with the correct operation of the CoApp. |

Have one for trial that's not loading for me. I don't think it's age restricted as I can access it without logging in. Not working electrical video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G9jjOs1M20 Then the following video does work without issue, even while logged into my premium account. Don't bother. CoApp 2.0.20 is something I just found here on the GitHub. After I installed it, Paul told me it's "not ready for prime time." I don't know what that means. It's been working for me. But I suspect there's some fit & finish work he has not yet done on it. I don't think it's a significant factor. The beta VDH for Firefox might be more of a significant factor. I would recommend you try that instead. Also, Firefox itself got a minor update to 132.0.1 recently. That might be worth installing. |
