[request] add node to skip part of point cloud for align SFM #665
Comments
@lord666 Wouldn't it be smart to mask the input of the photo, rather than masking the result of the input? |
I solved this by placing my object (apple) on a turntable and take image only of the upper half and middle. Then I turn the apple and again take images of the now upper half and middle. |
@skinkie mask the input ? create masks from 10 images agree, but from 100 or 200 images ... my god no. 3df zephyr integrate semi-automatic masking software ... it's better than nothing, but it's not the ideal. But Meshroom has no masking system (and no import masks, it seems to me) @natowi I have already tried several times and the result is approximate, if you don't have a mini studio, it does not work well. I try other approaches, but none works perfectly. Especially that, even in perfect condition, some object will be too big for this solution, for example a tyrannosaur's skull (I do not have one, it's for example lol). Currently the biggest gap in Messroom is that there is no way to directly edit the point cloud to correct it my idea of node is not necessarily ideal. But, I proposed it because I think that there is a real lack in Meshroom for everything that touches the alignment and the mask |

I think this is similar to this request #589 |
I have encountered a problem and I am sure I'll not be the only one to be confronted with this one.
Sometimes, it's necessary to photograph an object at different angles, but also, to move the object to see parts inaccessible. On uniform background it's not a problem, but it isn't always possible to do without a "support" to hold the object.
The problem is that, Meshroom can't properly align the point clouds, because the "support" isn't in the same place on the photos.
I thought that it would be convenient to be able to tell meshroom to ignore some point of the cloud when aligning SFM...in Metashap or 3DF Zephyr it is simply possible to delete these points but not in MESHROOM
The idea could be to photograph the "empty" support, to make it a point cloud and when aligning the complete project, indicate by an option, or a node that these points must be ignored.
I don't know if this idea is good but it could be a starting point
