More recent versions of the library will throw these warnings:

The class or interface 'SimpleSAML_Configuration' is now using namespaces, please use 'SimpleSAML\Configuration'.

The class or interface 'SimpleSAML_Auth_Simple' is now using namespaces, please use 'SimpleSAML\Auth\Simple'.

I've been using this module with this version:

At some point it would be good to test with 2.x -- and I'd love to know if anyone is already using it with that version.
