Hi Matt,
Ok, let me know if you need me to re submit. I copied all of my answers
into a word doc so I should be able to easily fill out the application
again if need be.
Let me know,
Wendi

You’re good! It was just a formatting bug and the contact of your application is completely intact. |
@Wendi-West - I have questions regarding 2 of the new metrics and I didn't see the needed information on the site though it's possibly available. deeper in the Registration process. Is there a way to request accessibility accommodations? And what is the accessibility of the sessions after the event? |
Hi @spotz. In the registration process we do have a question that asks: "Do you have a disability that we should be mindful of as we try to accommodate everyone for this event?" and then if they answer yes, a sub question of: "Please provide additional details here: (and it's a text box for them to fill in)" All sessions are captioned and can be translated into 17 different languages. All registered attendees will have access to the virtual event platform 24/7 for up to 45 days after the end of the event. All sessions will be made available "on demand" after their scheduled session date and time, so registered attendees can view at their own pace at any time. Keynotes and breakout sessions will also be made available on QQ and YouTube once the event platform closes. Let me know if that helps to answer your questions, or feel free to ask anything additional or more specific and I can try to provide you with the information needed. |
@Wendi-West That answers that, I did leave off one question, are there bandwidth options for folk ls in lower bandwidth areas? |
@spotz attendees can select their preferred resolution to watch the video within MeetingPlay (as an example if they cannot support HD, they could watch it in a lower quality like 480.) |
@Nebrethar - All concerns addressed, I'm good to go. Thanks @Wendi-West |
@Nebrethar all done with the review, Thanks! |
Thank you @KafayahL and @spotz for your thoughtful reviews. 😁 Nice work @Wendi-West! I am going to generate a badge and I’ll need you to let me know whether you accept it. |

Event Demographics
Q
Detail the process for measuring Event Demographics.A
Demographic information is collected solely for the purpose of compiling, analyzing and disclosing aggregate statistics regarding diversity of attendance at our events, to help track progress towards meeting our commitment to diversity initiatives. Consent to provide demographic information for the purpose listed above is optional and purely voluntary, and is provided during registration by selecting an option from the drop-down for the corresponding category. Demographic information is considered confidential and private. Voluntary information requested includes: Do you identify as a person of color? (Prefer not to Answer, Yes, No) Sub question when Yes is selected to question above: With which racial/ethnic background(s) do you identify? (check all that apply: Prefer not to answer, Asian, Black, Latinx, Indigenous Peoples, Pacific Islander, Self Identity (fill in) ) What gender do you identify with? (Prefer not to answer, Woman, Man, Other Gender Identity) How old are you? (Prefer not to answer, 0-19, 20-39, 40-60, 61+)Q
Provide an example of an opt-out option on the Event registration page if available.A
We provide an event survey within the virtual event platform, as well as share links to the survey near the end of the event in Slack and via email. Attendees can also share feedback in our Add Mock event 3 #1-kubecon-suggestionbox Slack channel. Here is the survey for KubeCon+CloudNativeCon North America 2021 https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/kccncna2021 Additionally, on the D+I page of the event website, we have the following information: If you have ideas on how we can create a more inclusive event, please do not hesitate to let us know. Contact Angela Brown, SVP & General Manager of Events, at angela@linuxfoundation.org.Q
Provide an example of a demographics text input box on the Event registration page if available.A
Each demographic question has the first option as Prefer not to answer. At the beginning of the demographic section we explain that it is all voluntary and the added language: "Should you choose to provide any demographic information, you may request removal of that information at any time by writing to privacy@linuxfoundation.org." Example of question with opt-out: What gender do you identify with? (Prefer not to answer, Woman, Man, Other Gender Identity)Inclusive Experience at Event

Is the event team using feedback from previous event's attendees, speakers, and volunteers to improve DEI at this event?A
Yes. We added captioning to keynotes and breakout sessions. This was implemented after feedback we received.Q
Does the event team plan to use feedback from this event's attendees, speakers, and volunteers to improve DEI at future events?A
Yes. This will be our first virtual event for China, so we are very curious to hear from our attendees and speakers of this specific event. We will have feedback options within the platform, via slack and in our post event survey. We will monitor the registration responses regarding disabilities and how we can serve each attendee better and make overall improvements.Q
Will the event platform be accessible to attendees and speakers after the event?A
Yes, the event platform MeetingPlay will be available 24/7 for all registered attendees and speakers for approximately 4-6 weeks after the event.Time Inclusion for Virtual Events
Q
Are speakers able to pre-record their presentations, as opposed to presenting them live?A
Yes, speakers are encouraged to pre-record their presentations. Additionally, all sessions (live or pre-recorded) are available "on demand" in the event platform after their scheduled date and time.Q
Can attendees change video quality on the Event platform while viewing a presentation?A
Slide/demo resolution on pre-recorded sessions is determined by factors on the speaker's end (e.g. screensharing, resolution when they were recording, etc.). Unfortunately, this is not something we can fix on the front end. Fortunately, slides will be available on Sched post-event. Additionally, session recordings will be available on YouTube and QQ after the event platform closes.Code of Conduct at Event
Q
Is the code of conduct posted at Event venue?A
Yes - the Code of Conduct is posted on the virtual event platform, as well as on our event website.Q

https://www.lfasiallc.com/kubecon-cloudnativecon-open-source-summit-china/attend/code-of-conduct/Diversity Access Tickets
Q
How many different types of diversity access tickets are available for the event?A
The scholarship program exists to support individuals who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend in three categories: Diversity, Need-based, Student. Additionally, the event has a complimentary event pass type for the Keynotes + Solutions Showcase only, should anyone want an introduction to the event and not want to apply for a scholarship or participate in the full event experience.Q
What are the criteria for qualifying for a diversity access ticket?A
The diversity scholarship program provides support to those from traditionally underrepresented and/or marginalized groups in the technology and/or open source communities (including, but not limited to: persons identifying as LGBTQIA+, women, persons of color, and/or persons with disabilities) who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend. The need-based scholarship provides support for active community members who are not being assisted or sponsored by a company or organization, and are unable to attend for financial reasons. The student scholarship is for students currently enrolled in high school, college / university, or a full / part-time coding course or bootcamp.Q
