Welcome to my Github! Here I share completed projects that are Music & Entertainment Industry specific.

1. BBChart

Predicting the BillboardHot 100 Chart with Machine Learning, with the use of XGBoost model and its various tuning functions. Dataset obtained from the Million Song database.

2. Spotify Analysis

Constructed statistical models tailored specifically to music companies to facilitate business decisions given certain scenarios. Dataset obtained from Kaggle. The different scenarios are briefly described below:

  • MUSIC FESTIVAL - Our label is sponsoring a music festival and we are trying to decide which genre to invite to perform.

  • INTRODUCING MORE LIVE SONG VERSION - Many of our artists have expressed interest in releasing live versions of their most popular songs, and we are wondering if having a higher liveness leads to above average popularity.

  • FACTORS OF POPULARITY - As a music label, we see that times are changing and it’s important to stay on top of current trends. We are very interested in identifying the factors that influence the popularity of songs. We believe that popularity is the most valuable KPI, and it is the most directly related to revenue.

3. Drummer Expressiveness

Developed statistical models to test several hypothesis that affect Drummer Expressiveness. Dataset obtained from figshare. Statistical methods used:

  • Linear Model

  • Bayesian Linear Model

  • Bayesian Logistic Regression

  • Linear Model with multiple factors

4. Music and Math

Psychology research conducted to find out "How Listening to Different Genres of Music Impact Individuals' Performance on Math Computations". Data gathered from fellow coursemates.

  • Ran analysis in SPSS and performed data cleaning in Excel

5. Soundcloud Marketing

A detailed analysis of Soundcloud's marketing techniques. Files included a report write up and a presentation deck.

6. Will Heard

Will Heard is a UK based Sony Artist. Two other team members and myself developed a strategic marketing campaign spanning 16 months using the Sony Music Potrait of a Nation DNA handbook provided by Sony Music.

  • Key areas on the marketing campaign include specific target audience and DNA analysis, strategic partnerships, creative direction and development, communication and product tactics, and a detailed content calender broken down into three phases.

7. Small Music Firms Versus Large Music Firms

Insights into how small companies differ from big companies in the music industry.

  • Emphasis placed on structure, culture, and flexibility

8. Nike Social Media Campaign

Conducted a four part research on brand audit, target audience, social media platform audit, and benchmarks to develop the Nike #RunWithMe Campaign.

  • Include formulated objectives, strategies, and tactics that led to a specific content calender.
