Compatible with all Linux distros.
It's a command tool utility, a "front-end" (also for the terminal) for xrandr. Just download.... give execution permission to the script and then run commands to change screen resolution.
The command xrandr is great but do not provide filters or preferences about aspect ratio and minimum resolution.
Just pick up and edit the file named "chres.conf"
# aspect-ratio as fraction, decimal number or by example with a resolution (optional)
ratio=16:9
# minimal height and width as resolution (WidthxHeight) or using an alias (optional)
minres=1080p
Usage
chres <options>
Options:
-s, --screen :0 is the default screen but it can be changed
-d, --display specify display interface (eDP-1-1,...)
-r, --resolution set display resolution
-R. --reset set default resolution
-h, --help display this help
-v, --version display version
