MVP Definition and Goals

The MVP gives potential applicants easy-to-follow, customized guidance on how to apply for UI benefits, so they can get through the process easily and quickly.

Our big picture goal is to increase the number of Californians who apply for and receive unemployment benefits.

If our tool is successful, we will:

• Increase the share of applications that are "clean" (no errors or missing documentation), and can be automatically processed by EDD, meaning claimants will get money faster, and EDD staff will have less manual work.
• Reduce the number of calls to call center, reducing the burden on EDD staff.
