websocket is new and coming, it would be fantastic to see websocket support in ibrowse.

I've been mulling it over recently. What I hear is that the spec is
constantly changing...is there a version of the spec you'd like to see
supported?

The spec is constantly changing but only slightly and browsers and servers support variations of it at this point.

The most common variations are supported by cowboy (erlang web server).

I'd say always support the latest browser supported version, which at the moment is hybi-10, though it'd be even better if all of the following were supported in someway.

hixie 76, hybi 7, hybi 8, hybi 9, hybi 10.

Even just having hybi 10, and then following up with changes to follow the latest browser supported protocol would be helpful for me as I'd really like to continue to use ibrowse for all my automated testing.
