Could you update the mentor information?
Also, could you please add a back up mentor? This year, we really encourage having 2 mentors in all programs.

Sorry, totally missed that section 😅
- Description: This project will focus on governance documentation for the Cilium project with two key parts. First, the governenace documentation should be moved out of the main docs and into the community repo. Second, we need to do an inventory of all of the repos under the project and come up with a lifecycle for them. | ||

While I love having this kind of work part of a mentoring program, do you think that there are more tasks?
I obviously don't know everything about that's asked in the upstream issues and I might be underestimating, but to me, the project proposal didn't seem like going to take 3 months of working full time. Please let me know if you think otherwise.

I think the repo lifecycle will take a while since it will require getting feedback and agreement across the project on what the different stages are. The project is also considering updating its governance and that could be part of the updating of the governance docs too.

Hello everyone, I'm Lydia Ojoawo. I'm a software engineer student at the African Leadership University Kigali Rwanda. I'm interested in the mentoring program. I have a knowledge about open source and I will really want to explore the cloud native field too. Could anyone guide me through the whole process? |
@Lydia02 thanks for your interest. The applications will open on the 29th |

Thanks for this @xmulligan. If you think there is enough work here for a semester for a mentee I'm happy to have this in the program. We're also asking for more than one mentor per project now, Is there a second mentor you'd be able to have join? This second wouldn't have to be a primary mentor, but we're encouraging having a backup this year.
Also, this term we’re doing an information session for mentors. We’d like to invite all the mentors participating to attend one of these if you're able:
- North America: Jan 29, 2024 10:30 AM (Pacific Time)
- EMEA + APAC: Jan 30, 2024 8:00 AM (UTC)
Yes I think there will be enough work with everything we have going on in the project. Is the second mentor a hard requirement or just a request? I'm happy to join the EMEA session |
It's a request—in recent terms we've had an issue where some mentors have missed some deadlines for things like evaluations and we're trying to make sure we have communication coverage. That all said, we've not had any trouble with Cilium projects, so I'm happy to let you be a solo mentor 🙂 |

Thank you looking forward to mentor again. We actually just hired one of our previous mentees based on his work in the program! |
That's awesome! They'd be a great candidate for a co-mentor, virtuous cycle! One of my favourite things to hear is when a mentee becomes a maintainer and then a mentor 😃 |
Yes, it could happen in the future when we have some more projects around Tetragon |
Hello, is the application Opened now, I'm interested in the project. Can someone guide me through. |
Hello, on the Linux Foundation Program website, this project seem to be under closed application. |
