Invitations
Here is a list of FLOSS projects where we've specifically invited the project to pursue and get a badge.
We'd like many FLOSS projects to pursue and get a badge. Software that has any users is depended on by someone, and it's often surprising how many people depend on some software, so the more the merrier. That said, not all FLOSS projects have heard of us (in spite of our work on Publicity), or may not have considered doing it themselves, so we sometimes directly send an invitation to a project asking them to pursue a badge. We particularly want to invite projects that are widely-used (because many depend on them) or are especially important for security (e.g., crypto libraries or anything accessible via a network).
Below is a list of projects that we have not sent an invitation (and perhaps we should). This is followed by lists of project where we've sent an invitation and (1) they have not yet started, (2) they have started, or (3) they have decided to not pursue a badge at this time. If you've sent an invitation, please add it to the list.
- jQuery
- Stockfish - reputed to be the top FLOSS chess program. Feature requests should be sent to their forum, not their issue tracker
- OpenVPN - they're currently undergoing a security audit. Contact info at https://openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/345-openvpn-project.html - JD to contact
- lila / lichess.org - network-accessible, widely used by many people
We keep track of this list so we don't keep bothering these projects. We hope they'll change their minds later, but we don't want to nag.
