Discrete GPU temperature is not being read [fixed in v.1.5.8.1 beta, download here] #400
Comments
Looks like 5700XT temperature on this iMac model should be read using the SMC sensor GPU Die. Will do that, thanks for the follow up. |
deejaykris, |
Same on MacBook Pro 16" |
If possible, send a screenshot as well, please |
Same on mbp10,1 (15" retina late-2012), OSX 10.14.6: |
output.txt |
Please try this test build and post your screenshot, thank you! |
Basically GPU Die sensor has now more meaningful name with GPU model. Download version 1.5.8.1.25 betaand post here your screenshots, thanks. |
Please post tech info as described at #407, best right after some heavy GPU task Please also run the complete command in Terminal |
Exactly. |
This fixed it for my MBP Late-2013 with GeForce GT 750M. |
All macbook pro users (16,1, 15,1) please try the update, it must display discrete GPU temperature, but please run also the Valley benchmark to make sure the temperature rises properly. Download version 1.5.8.1.26 beta |
Okay, it seems to work but the temperature doesn’t report “accurately” - it’s always rounded to the nearest degree, which isn’t a problem and may be by design but worth nothing, I guess.

@eggicusroundplumpius did you run the Valley benchmark? What was the max temp for 5600M? |
The max was something like 79°, if I remember correctly.

Thanks |
Works now, great! The highest temp I'd seen was 96°C, matches what other tools are saying. Also the eGPU works just fine... |
Thanks! Which eGPU did you connect? Thanks. |
Perfect, thanks! |
Fixed in 1.5.8.1 |
Download version 1.5.8.1.26 beta
Previously reported in 1.58 beta but not fixed in release. When Discrete GPU checked in Preferences there is no Temp reading for 5700XT GPU. Unchecking gives all readings as in previous versions. See screen shots with and without check box active.
