Curation practices have become more iterative since we originally designed the "initial question" section of the submission forms. It is now common for a user to enter a manuscript number in the initial submission, but then a user or curator wants to enter an article DOI later. The UI does not make it clear how to accomplish this, and the interaction is further complicated by the behind-the-scenes connection to Related works.
Review the typical use cases for adding and editing the journal, manuscript number, and article DOI.
Design a new UI that allows users more intuitive control over these three fields
The users will still be asked to add either an in-progress manuscript or a publication DOI in the submission editor. We will move toward allowing those who have entered a manuscript, after publication, to add a publication DOI outside the submission editor (probably from the My Datasets page)
