Services
Mopify comes with so called services to create a complete music experience.
Services can be enabled and disabled by going to the Services page. This page will present you an overview with all available services. You can enable or disable a service by hovering over the image and clicking on the connect icon.
When a service has extra settings a gear icon will popup next to the enable/disable icon. Clicking on this icon will bring you to it's settings page.
At the moment the following services are included:
The Spotify service will enable the following features:
- Featured playlists
- New releases
- Faster playlist loading
- Personal playlist loading
- Modifying playlists
- Creating playlists
After you enable the Spotify service you have to login. Mopify will try to open Spotify's login page. Most browsers block this popup (because it's activated without user interaction), so please make sure you allow popups.
After you have logged in Spotify will send you to the callback url; which is: http://mopify.bitlabs.nl/auth/spotify/callback/
Read this page if you wan't to know more about the customized login procedure. If everything went well the popup will close itself and your account will show up at the bottom of the menu.
You now have access to the extra features.
Note that from the moment you've enabled the Spotify service 'Playlists' will return the playlists from the connected Spotify account instead of the configured Spotify account in Mopidy.
Taste Profile is an Echonest service. This services keeps track of the songs you have listened to. This list is called a Taste Profile and can be used to create personal music recommendations. Those recommendations can be viewed at the 'Browse' page.
The Taste Profile service will enable the following features:
- Get recommendations based on the songs you've listened
- Start a station from based on the songs you've listened
Note: Songs can only be saved to your Taste Profile when Mopify is opened.
You only have to enable the service if you wan't to use it. After you've enabled the service it will create a profile and start keeping track of the songs you're listening.
Delete
Taste Profile is completely anonymous and can always be deleted via the service's settings page. You can open this page by clicking on the service's gear icon on the Service page.
With the Sync service you can synchronize multiple Mopify clients within you network so they use the same authentication tokens and settings. All sync data will be saved on your own Mopidy server. At the moment the following services can be synchronized:
- Spotify authentication tokens
- Taste Profile ID
When enabling the Sync service your Mopify client will generate a unique ID. This ID will be used to identify the device in your network. You can change your client's display name on the service's settings page.
Push and get
Every service (within the Sync settings page) can be turned on and off individually. When enabling a service it will first try to retrieve the data from the server. When no data is available it will prompt you with the message to Push your data.
