Draft release notes
As this PR is finalized for merge, when you get a chance, you can add a release note for it to Documentation/release-notes/4725.md
as part of the PR. Here's the template to fill out. I'll mark this comment as "Request changes" so I'll remember to check back for the completed draft release note to integrate into the final combined set of release notes. Thanks!
#### Application Mono Framework behavior on device and emulator
- [GitHub 4713](https://github.com/xamarin/xamarin-android/issues/4713):
Starting in Xamarin.Android 10.3, SIGSEGV during
`monodroid_typemap_java_to_managed` could cause apps to abort...
The note can be one or two sentences long. Here's a little question to cover briefly in those sentences if possible: Which apps or project configurations did the problem affect?

Whenever Xamarin.Android runtime needs to instantiate a managed type, it
first looks it up by calling the following function:
The
nullptr
pointer refers to an instance of the MonoMonoImage
structure and if
null
, it should cause Mono to find the correct imagecontaining the type and load it, if not already loaded.
The pointer is propagated down the call chain inside Mono and due to one
of the functions called not properly validating its arguments, the
null
pointer was dereferenced, leading to a crash similar to:Mono commit mono/mono@10795da1c06 fixes this issue.
