Fix documentation examples: missing json format, default client uses SSL

This fixes two issues with the docs:

• Default client is using SSL
• The index example must specify format, otherwise the subsequent parsing fails.

Since this is a community submitted pull request, a Jenkins build has not been kicked off automatically. Can an Elastic organization member please verify the contents of this patch and then kick off a build manually?
