Special instructions

Changing word order

Impeller supports localization for activity strings, such as “John Doe posted a comment in reply to a note”. These strings are constructed from fragments. If your language has a different word order in a sentence than English, this is how you can change it:

The translation includes 2 weird looking strings:

%1$s %2$s %3$s

%1$s %2$s %3$s in reply to %4$s

Ignore the % and $s, that is just android formating. The numbers are important – they specify which fragment goes where.

1 = actor, 2 = verb, 3 = object, 4 = target of a reply

So, for example, if your language puts verb at the end, you can switch “2” and “3”. If you do it, try to say such sentence in your head to see if it sounds right.

Noun cases

English doesn't have cases. In the languages that do, the word for “note” can be different in “user posted a note” as opposed to “this is a note”. This should not be a problem, because the object types (a note, an image, a comment, ...) are used only for constructing the activity strings described above, so you can safely put them in the proper case you would use in a sentence like “user posted (X)”.
