Running into a similar issue with just using browserProvider.call({from, data, to: "someaddress.eth"})

I believe this line is where it's failing:

ethers.js/src.ts/providers/abstract-provider.ts

Line 820 in 77fcc7f

const addr = resolveAddress((<any>request)[key]);

I assume it should include the provider in the second argument.
