Membership in Fairdrive DAO

Fairdrive DAO operates with a clear structure and process for its members, encompassing onboarding, roles and responsibilities, and offboarding, to ensure a cohesive and productive environment. This framework supports our core values of decentralization, transparency, and community-driven governance.

Onboarding Process for New Members

Initial Contact and Evaluation

  • Potential members express their interest by contacting existing members of the team they wish to join.
  • The existing team evaluates the candidate based on their expertise and the team's current needs.

Proposal and Voting

  • If deemed a good fit, a proposal (in the form of a simple decision - see here) for the new member is submitted to the Governance team.
  • The Governance team conducts a vote to approve or decline the new member's inclusion in the DAO.
  • The joining member joins the DAO via this link: https://xdai.colony.io/colony/fairdrive. After clicking the “Join this Colony” button, they will appear in the DAO as a “watcher”.
  • Upon approval, the Governance Team initiates a ceremonial transfer of 50 DRIVE tokens from the funds allocated to the team the new member is joining. This symbolic transaction grants the new member their initial reputation and DRIVE tokens, officially integrating them into the DAO team.
  • One of the Governance Team members with appropriate permission updates the DAO Address Book.

Integration

  • Approved members are onboarded through a process determined by the specific team they are joining, which may include orientation sessions, access to necessary tools, and integration into ongoing projects. Every team in the DAO has their own way to onboard new members once they are formally approved and part of the DAO.
  • Once the Fairdrive DAO is incorporated, a contract with the new contributor will be signed too.

Offboarding Process

Voluntary Departure and Project Completion

  • Members intending to leave must provide sufficient notice for the team to find a replacement and submit all relevant working files and documents.
  • Reputation begins to decay with inactivity, naturally diminishing the departing member's influence over time.

Formal Procedures

  • The team announces the member's departure on Discord and records the decision on the Colony platform, ensuring transparency and keeping the community informed.
