Allow the snippet files to persist after compilation to help with debugging. **Note:** Since we reuse the same snippet filename for all snippets, only the last snippet will be preserved if a document contains more than one.
We need to get rid of the `\par` commands in the snippet, but the extra spaces aren't really all that important and can safely stay.

Does not address #1495 so those tests still fail.
