In order to run Terraform in an infrastructure container on Joyent's cloud without resorting to LX-brand zones (which does work), it would be nice if Terraform built and ran on SmartOS. I have this working locally, but there are a number of patches both to Terraform's core and to upstream dependencies which would make this possible - these are enumerated below with relevant pull requests/notes:
