Fix Transformation type protocol #1801

I've manually tested this. Running mypy on tests or examples might be a good way to catch some of these things.

• Closes Type hinting: Transformation type incompatible with usage in add_transformation  #1801
• Executed pre-commit run --all-files with no errors
• The change is fully covered by automated unit tests
• Documented in docs/ as appropriate
• Added an entry to the CHANGES file

Somehow this broke the numpy code, not sure why. Ideas?

i have no idea, i guess something must have been using the Transformation protocol and passing something that should have been a kwarg as a positional argument?
