Creating a Skype channel

Skype channels are not created with your Skype account username and password. Instead, you need to procure a Skype Connect account and set up a channel by following the steps detailed below.

Creating a Skype Manager Account

The first step is to create a Skype Manager account, by entering your company contact information. This will allow you access to the Skype Manager, where you'll be able to set up Skype Connect profiles.

Create a Skype Connect Profile

Once on your Skype Manager dashboard, navigate to Features, and then choose Skype Connect.

Once there, set up a new SIP Profile.

You will need to create a Channel for it, assign some credit for Outgoing Calls, and assign a Skype Number if you want to support Incoming Calls. Note that the both the Channel and the Number have a recurring monthly fee.

In the SIP Profile details, you will find an option to see the Authentication Details. From here you will be able to retrieve the SIP User (a long number) and request to generate a Password which will be delivered to you via email.

Create the Verboice channel

In Verboice, create a new Skype channel, and enter the following information:

• Name: A friendly name for the channel, so you can identify it.
• Call flow for incoming calls: The call flow, defined in the Call Flow section of a Project, that will be executed when a call is received by Verboice via this channel.
• Username: The SIP User in the Skype Manager SIP Profile. This is not the same as your Skype username.
• Password: The Password in the Skype Manager SIP Profile. This is not the same as your Skype password.
• Number: Skype phone number associated to this channel, if any.
• Limit: Number of concurrent outgoing calls, equal to the number of channels you have assigned in the Skype SIP profile.

If you have successfully configured the channel, after saving, wait a few seconds and refresh the page: the channel status icon should turn to green, indicating it has been successfully registered. It will also show in the Skype SIP Profile a notice indicating that SIP user successfully registered at sip.skype.com.
