Supported Distributions
It is the goal of this project to supports as many distributions based on the following Debian/Ubuntu versions as possible.
- Debian Bookworm
- Debian Bullseye
- Ubuntu Noble Numbat
- Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish
- Ubuntu Focal Fossa
Official support is currently available for the following distributions.
- Armbian (Bookworm, Jammy and Noble)
- Debian (Bookworm and Bullseye)
- DietPi (Bookworm and Bullseye)
- Raspberry PI OS (Bookworm and Bullseye)
- Ubuntu (Jammy Jellyfish, Focal Fossa and Noble Numbat*)
As stated above, the goal of this project is to support as many distributions and architectures as possible without bloating the project to the point it is unmaintainable. If you encounter issues using any distribution based on any of the above Debian/Ubuntu versions which is not listed in the officially supported distributions list, feel free to open an issue being sure to include the name of the distribution, version, device architectures and details on the issue encountered.
* Please note that at this time Noble Numbat support requires the use of a piaware_build fork which I created.
Support for Debian/Ubuntu versions along with their associated child distributions ends once the release in question has reached "End of Life" in the case of Debian or "End of Standard Support" for Ubuntu releases.
- Debian 11 "Bullseye": June 30th, 2028
- Debian 12 "Bookworm": August 31st, 2026
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS "Noble Numbat": June 2029
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish": June 2027
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS "Focal Fossa": April 2025
There are times when current releases are not yet supported due to multiple reasons one such reason being third party software support. Most beta quality releases are also generally not supported until they are official released as stable products. Plans to support the following releases will be added once they meet the requirements.
- Ubuntu 24.10 Oracular Oriole
(awaiting dump1090-fa and piaware_builder support)
- Debian Trixie
