Setup KVM Libvirt

Virtualization Support

  • Make sure you are running this script on a physical host that supports virtualization.
  • Make sure Virtualization is enabled for the CPU(s) in the bios settings of the host. You can check the status by running:
    lscpu | grep Virtualization:
    
  • You should see:
    Virtualization:      VT-x
    
    Or
    Virtualization:      AMD-V
    

Setup KVM/Libvirt

  • Fedora 30+

    sudo dnf -y install qemu-kvm qemu-img bridge-utils libvirt libvirt-client virt-install  libguestfs-tools
    
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8

    sudo dnf install qemu-kvm qemu-img bridge-utils libvirt libvirt-client virt-install libguestfs-tools-c
    
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

    TODO
    
  • Ubuntu 18.04+

    sudo apt-get install qemu-kvm libvirt-daemon-system libvirt-clients bridge-utils virtinst libguestfs-tools
