nquakesv

Kuk Team servers version of nQuakeWorld Server + qwfwd proxy + ktx configs + team fortress configs.

Welcome to a simpler QuakeWorld server experience.

nQuakesv is a server package that contains MVDSV, KTX, QTV and QWFWD, all preconfigured and tested. It also contains update scripts for MVDSV and KTX, maps and configurations.

From the nQuakesv directory:

  • To start nQuakesv, type "./start_servers.sh".
  • To stop nQuakesv, type "./stop_servers.sh"
  • To update MVDSV and KTX, type "./update_binaries.sh"
  • To update map pool, type "./update_maps.sh"
  • To update server configuration, type "./update_configs.sh"

A note on the server configuration updater: The script will not replace any of the information you entered during setup. It is therefore safe to update your server configuration if you haven't made any changes to the nQuakesv configs manually. This way you can be ensured that you have the latest config files you can get.

The update scripts can be run in crobtab with the following parameters:

--random-mirror --restart --no-restart --sure

The --sure parameter is specific for the config update script.

================================================= Examples:

Type "crontab -e" to edit your crontab in Linux.

Add the following:

*/10 * * * * /home/quake/nquakesv/start_servers.sh >/dev/null 2>&1

This checks if the nQuakesv servers are running every 10 minutes, if they aren't running, they are started.

30 5 * * 2 /home/quake/nquakesv/update_maps.sh --random-mirror --no-restart >/dev/null 2>&1

This updates your map pool every tuesday at 5:30 AM using a random mirror and does not restart your servers.

40 5 * * 2 /home/quake/nquakesv/update_configs.sh --random-mirror --no-restart --sure >/dev/null 2>&1

This updates your config files for KTX, MVDSV, QTV and QWFWD at 5:40 AM every tuesday. It uses a random mirror and does not restart the servers. The --sure parameter accepts the warning that your configuration files are about to be overwritten.

42 5 * * 2 /home/quake/nquakesv/update_binaries.sh --random-mirror --restart >/dev/null 2>&1

This updates your MVDSV and KTX binaries every tuesday (2) at 5:42 AM. It uses a random mirror and automatically restarts your servers after the update has been performed.

Using these examples above, your server will stay updated even if you are not there to oversee it.
