Accessibility Insights for Web 2.36.1

Welcome to the December 13th release of Accessibility Insights for Web!

Highlights

Manifest v3 support

Accessibility Insights for Web is now compatible with Google's new "Manifest v3" requirements for browser extensions. This change does not impact how you use Accessibility Insights, but required many technical changes to how Accessibility Insights works behind the scenes.

Thanks to all of the users that helped us test these changes in our "Insider MV3" builds! We will be deprecating the "Insider MV3" version of the extension shortly after this release.

Improved visibility for in-page highlight boxes

The highlight boxes Accessibility Insights for Web uses to draw attention to individual elements on a page are now easier to see, especially on pages with backgrounds whose colors are similar to the original color of the highlight boxes.

Bug fixes

Assessment text clarifications

  • Improved the "How to fix" instructions in the Assessment "Parsing" requirement (#6154)
  • Fixed some broken links in the Assessment "Design pattern" requirement (#6155)

Other fixes

  • Improved performance of FastPass Tab stops issue detection on complex pages (#6114)
  • Fixed an issue where FastPass Tab stops visualizations failed to render for elements in open shadow DOMs (#6046)
  • Fixed an issue with exporting an Assessment to JSON where some requirement descriptions would read certain HTML tag names as "undefined" (#6132)
  • Fixed an issue where contextual menu items were not setting a hover color correctly when hovering them with a mouse in Windows High Contrast mode (#6140)
  • Updated how the headings of failure groups in some FastPass and report views are read to accessibility technologies to more closely match visual reading order (#6151)
  • Improved compatibility with complex pages by increasing the amount of time we allow a page to take to respond before we consider it unresponsive (#6176)
