There was a concern about PolyMC not being safe anymore

#118715 (comment)

https://prismlauncher.org/wiki/overview/faq/#what-happened states

Prism Launcher was forked from PolyMC due to a sequence of actions by Lenny McLennington on the 17th of October, 2022. Lenny made several politically charged changes to the PolyMC GitHub repository and organization to remove those supporting "left-wing ideologies". In a commit, Lenny removed the PolyMC Code of Conduct, which outlined and prohibited discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community and subsequently removed all maintainers. The commit and subsequent mass purge of maintainers were done without prior warning or discussion with the rest of the PolyMC team; the incident can be considered a hostile takeover.

That was over a year ago, the maintainer didn't go rogue. There is no malware or anything else in PolyMC, you can look at the code for yourself

I can't say anything regarding if PolyMC has malware or not. The application is horribly outdated at this point and succeeded by Prism Launcher. Not to mention that its transphobic lead developer did a hostile takeover of the project over my own personal beliefs. Nobody in the Minecraft community trusts PolyMC anymore, or its developer.

why do views of other people bother you so much if they don't push them into their software, unlike the one you mentioned.

PS: there's nothing hostile about taking project you de facto own away from people you have conflict with. i would do exactly the same.

  1. Because I used to be both a minor code contributor and a financial contributor to PolyMC. I was banned from the Discord because I made a single commit to PolyMC before the takeover.
  2. Because I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community.

I'm pretty sure PolyMC now violates the Minecraft / Xbox Community Standards, which is encompassed in Minecraft's EULA.
