ownCloud 4.5 Features

This collects all the new features of ownCloud 4.5. This will be used for the release announcement.

Main Features

• Big File Chunking in Server and Client
• Faster Syncing with checksums for files and folders
• Group Admins
• Mounting of external Storage including new user interface – Dropbox, Google Drive
• Refactored sharing, including improved permissions system
• Address book and contact sharing
• Support for caching / minimizing of JS and css ?

• Support for replacing files by name in web interface

Contacts

• Contacts are grouped by address book in the list
• Progressive loading of contacts.
• Drag and drop contacts between address books.
• Drag and drop address book to merge with other address book.
• Drag and drop VCF files to contacts list or address book to import contacts.
• Delayed delete with undo.
• Added URL/Website and IMPP (Instant messaging) fields.
• Keyboard shortcuts for common operations.
• Hopefully less CPU intensive and less memory hungry.

Calendar

• repeating events caching
• completely rewritten export
• completely rewritten import
• Drag&Drop import of calendar files

LDAP User and Group backend

• Group memberships are being logged, so Sharing can take care grant/withdraw access to shard files for new/removed members. Requires activated background job.
• Less LDAP traffic and better performance through result caching.
• Revamped Settings page, now also featuring a “Test Connection” button.
• Various other fixes and small improvements.
