Information for international students

Unfortunately the course material and exercises are entirely in Finnish. The only possibility for a non Finnish speaker to take part to the course is to self study Rails.

For the self study I recommend the online material in page Rails tutorial You should not only read the material but also type the application that the online material is building.

After you have gone through the material, you should build yourself a small Rails project that contains

  • at least 5 models
  • one-to-many and many-to-many relations
  • user authentication
  • application is deployed in heroku

The topic of the application can be picked freely.

After finishing the project you can take the exam.

In case of running into problems there is guidance available Wednesdays and Thursdays 13-15 at room B221.

There is actually a plan to translate the course material in English. However the translation will not be ready within the next 6 months.
