To all:

The driver compiles on 10.13. The following was needed to perform.

Get MacOS SDK. I'd downloaded and targeted MacOS 10.10 and built on a 10.13 machine.
One of a) reboot computer to restore mode and disable kernel signing extensions, or b) get Developer ID signing credentials and sign after building.
Typical kernel deployment steps of chown 755, chmod root:wheel, and locate in /Library/Extensions (updated to this spot a few releases back)
