So it's only fair that the community gets to choose what features should be implemented first. I've compiled the below features (major changes) from the discussions and my personal plans. You can probably find a discussion about each listed feature, to discuss more on the same.

Please Mouse events! This could be insanely helpful for online tutorials & streamers gameplay(surprisingly hard to find reliable OSD software for this purpose) Keyviz is awesome!

It would be great if this feature could show all mouse events. Other than gaming, this could be useful when someone wants to make a tutorial on a program like Adobe Photoshop. For example, let's say they want to showcase what holding alt while rolling the mouse wheel does.

Yea, there are a lot of cases where mouse actions and keyboard shortcuts go hand in hand. It will be a good addition.

Please add an option to set custom position anywhere on the screen.

Sure, custom positioning (through drag 'n drop) with more alignment options (center-left, top-right, etc.) is planned for the upcoming release!

Also would be preferable to add some more size options to make it smaller that currently 32px which is smallest. Using in UX research it is valuable to see keyboard usage, but preferably less intrusive to the user.

🚩 Future Plans

Hello Community 👋!

It's been a while since the last release, and primarily no activity since then. I should at least notify you about the current status of the project and future development plans 🛣️. These days I'm working on another personal project (that is taking too much time). Hopefully, I'll finish the same by the end of this year.

For the upcoming release, there are some big plans 💪! In the upcoming version 2.0, the followings are the major plans -

🔐 Microsoft Certificate

The most important issue right now is the virus alert. So before anything, I'll get a license for keyviz. Probably, distribute it through Microsoft Store as well.

⚙️ Cross-platform support

✨ New Styles

When releasing the v1.0.0, the design process was rushed resulting in a rough UI/UX and only 2 keycap styles. A new UI for the settings, several UX improvements (like spinbox for size) and new keycap styles.

If you'd like to propose any designs, you're most welcome!

🖱️ Mouse events display.

Along with keypress, mouse events are also important. Mouse clicks, scroll, drag, and mouse-events + keypress like Ctrl + Left Click will be displayed.

⌨️ Key-press history

The current Append mode doesn't work well for simultaneous shortcuts. So, it will be re-created to show keypress history vertically/horizontally.

🖥️ Multi-monitor support.

Many users have a multi-monitor setup, where they record on one screen and keep references/other things on another monitor. So it's a must as well.

Now as much as it sounds exciting, it will require a good amount of time to implement as well. As mentioned above, I have my hands full at the moment and that will be the case at the start of 2023 as well. I feel responsible for at least telling the people using keyviz, about the project's future plans. So there you have it, and Happy Holidays ❄️.

I would absolutely love for a way to generate the shortcuts and export them as an image. Would make video editing guides so much easier.

Yeah! There is only one tool out there ( https://monsterbrain.github.io/keyboard-shortcut-image-generator/) that kind of does it but the visual aesthetic of what you've put together is so nice. When I do hotkey/shortcut heavy guide videos it can be really time consuming when editing. Just a suggestion! Regards, Dimitri

Hi @mulaRahul,

Thank you for creating such an amazing tool!

I think I've found a bug in the macOS app:

• The scroll icon stays on the screen even after the key duration, even if mouse events are disabled.
• The click animation is activated and frozen when a scroll occurs.
• The frozen click stays until another click occurs.
• The scroll key doesn't disappear until another key is pressed.
• After another key is pressed, the scroll key disappears after the key duration.
