Apps and Users pages are showing a blank white screen on Migrated Instance #21024
Comments
Save problem for me on a migrated instance, the original is ok, the new one gives blank page for apps and users. |
I will say that after updating my instance to 18.0.5 using the web updater, and then checking the App screen again, it loads as expected. It seems the update process repaired whatever was broken. |
Same here. It seems that the "sudo" form is hidden, but even showing it manually (using dev tools) and validating the password doesn't permit to show the users manager nor the apps manager. |
Same as #19280 |
Hi! Before we continue, please do the following steps:
Thanks 😉 |
Both done before contributing to this issue 🙂 |
Have you upgraded to the latest nc18? |
Before, I've moved the instance (copied files and imported dumps). |
So can you still reproduce the issue on 19.0.1 ? |
Absolutely 🙁 |
similar here on loading anything under https://mydomain.com/settings/apps or https://mydomain.com/index.php/settings/apps :
Nextcloud 19.0.1 |
Can one of you provide me with a test account and send it at skjnldsv@protonmail.com please? |
Sorry, I can't. |
You can hook me up with a groupadmin account on an empty group! |
Nothing ? You've got a full JS stack trace, all versions provided, server logs, apps list, etc ... I understand it's easier to have root access to broken setups, but sometimes it's not possible. On my side, I also gave you a clue about the "sudo" frame not showing up, probably because of the JS chunk error. On my setup, I'm running the latest stable (which doesn't seem to be the case for @odinsride). I'm open to try things or extract some settings from the DB, but I can't give you access to a production instance to play with. |
I just ran an integrity check from CLI which results in:
Upgrade was done manually with Dev tools in browser show no 404 error, so there must be no missing file. |
Then I will need a screenshot of your network requests. |
You can also try to open the link |
Here's what I did and what I can observe:
My guess: the error states that "loading vue-6.js failed", not that it failed downloading it. |
let me just check, what browser are you uding?
Would that help if you sent to john@nextcloud.com? But to be honest, I'm lacking ideas there, I don't really get it and kinda needs to investigate. 🤔 |
Can any of you clone 20 there: #22395 You can run a dummy php server by just running |
Brave but also checked Firefox, running on Mac OS
Nothing personal, I wouldn't even give an access to my wife/mother/best friend, unless (s)he is granted to.
I understand 🙁 |
Ok, I found how to fix the issue (which also gives some clues on how to reproduce I guess) I moved my Nextcloud directory (maintenance mode ON) out of the way (data stored separately), recreated directory, pulled a fresh new installation from the archive, copied config.php and apps directory. I therefore suppose that at some point, a file got removed from the base tree, and never got removed when upgrading successively over the previous releases. Hope it'll help. |
I'll let others confirm this behaviour too :) |
Here's the list of files contained in the old tree (upgraded Nextcloud instances) and missing in the fresh new install:
|
By the way, now, @skjnldsv Maybe should NC's upgrade tool (or integrity check) should include include an option to cleanup old release's left behind files. |
Well, a proper upgrade should do it automatically, that's how our web updated works :) |
Got the same problem without any output from php occ integrity:check-core. |
Thanks for the account @vetienne. Since you're in 19.0.1, please backup the apps/settings/js folder and replace it by this one: Then clear cache and try again (don't run integrity, it will fail as the files are different. |
Hum, I also found an issue. Do any of you still have a settings folder in your webserver root? |
I have a settings folder at root, rename it and tada , it works ...... I have a quite old install so think i have used amost all extract tar.gz upgrade with nextcloud .... |
I had a |
That's what I was afraid. Thanks for the help everyone! |
Just in case you are still interrested here is my (old) settings folder in root directory

I had a /settings folder when I had the issue, but not anymore since I cleaned up the entire install and re-installed from scratch (see #21024 (comment) (#21024 (comment)))

Expected behaviour
The Apps and Users pages should load allowing me to use those pages
Actual behaviour
After migrating a Nextcloud install (Docker based with Docker MySQL backend), from one server to another, a blank white page is displayed when navigating to Apps or Users from the Admin menu. The Settings page loads fine, however. When navigating to Apps or Users pages I see the following error in the Javascript console:
