Thank you for submitting your PR. The PR states are In progress (or Draft) -> Tech review -> Doc review -> Editorial review -> Merged. Before you submit your PR for doc review, make sure the content is technically accurate. If you need help finding a tech reviewer, tag a maintainer. When you're ready for doc review, tag the assignee of this PR. The doc reviewer may push edits to the PR directly or leave comments and editorial suggestions for you to address (let us know in a comment if you have a preference). The doc reviewer will arrange for an editorial review. |
@sejli Please use this PR to add the initial draft content as soon as possible. Once you add the content, tag me so that I can doc review and move the PR forward for publishing by release. Thank you. |

All existing functionality remains in OpenSearch 2.17, and the new features are designed to improve your data exploration experience. The **Enable query enhancements** is currently not on a minimum distribution. <SME: Do we need to add text about plugins?>. @sejli Will you provide me with the link for users to leave feedback about these features? Also, please review this paragraph. Do we need to add text about plugins?

@sejli No one has provided any updates. The developers write the initial drafts for new features and the tech writer refines the content. Any updates developers can make in the PR.

- In a distribution of just
OpenSearch
andOpenSearch Dashboards
, query enhancements will not provide access to PPL or SQL. This requires the OpenSearch SQL plugin. I think we can make it known that query enhancements does work with just OpenSearch, but will require the SQL plugin and others to make SQL, PPL, and external datasource queries work. - Other than making a note for getting SQL and PPL to work, looks good to me. May need some more input from @kavilla as well.
